Taking place at Shining Waters Family Fun Park: 122 Avonlea Blvd

Kick off race day with the Maritime Fun Group Kids Run, part of the Cavendish Race Weekend! Taking place before the waterpark opens, this exciting first-ever kids race invites young runners to hit the 1km course and be cheered on by fan-favourite mascots, Salty the Turtle and Bandit the Fox. Race start times will be staggered by age group, with U13 beginning at 8:30 a.m., U9 at 8:45 a.m., and U5 at 9:00 a.m. Every participant will receive a medal and Maritime Fun Group swag to celebrate their achievement. As an added bonus, registration includes almost half off same-day admission for racers and their families to either Sandspit or Shining Waters Family Fun Park, making it the perfect way to turn race day into a full day of family fun!

Perfect for runners and walkers alike, the Cavendish 5K presented by Lone Oak Brewing offers a scenic and approachable route through the heart of Prince Edward Island National Park. This beautifully designed course winds along the Cavendish Beach Trail and Dunelands Trail, guiding participants through a mix of coastal views, peaceful wooded sections,
and open parkland.

With just over 3.1 miles and gentle rolling elevation, this route is ideal for those looking to enjoy the experience as much as the run. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply soaking in the surroundings, the 5K delivers a memorable race day in one of PEI’s most iconic destinations -made even better with a post-run celebration at Lone Oak Beer Garden.

Looking for a challenge? The Cavendish 10K presented by Lone Oak Brewing takes everything you love about the 5K and goes even further. This dynamic course explores more of Prince Edward Island National Park, combining coastal stretches with extended trail running through the Homestead Trail system and surrounding landscapes.

Runners will experience a diverse and engaging route that winds through forested trails, open spaces, and shoreline vistas, offering both a physical challenge and a truly immersive PEI experience. With just over 6.3 miles and slightly more elevation, the 10K is perfect for runners ready to push their pace while taking in some of the most beautiful scenery in Atlantic Canada—capped off with a post-run celebration at Lone Oak Beer Garden.

Where and when can you pick up your Race Kits?

Race kits can be picked up at the Lone Oak Beer Garden on Friday June 19th, and
Saturday June 20th from 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm.

Where does the 5K and 10K race start?

Both the 5K and 10K races begin at the entrance to Avonlea Village.

Where is the parking located for the 5K and 10K races?

Parking for the 5K and 10K races will be available in the Avonlea Village parking lot, located behind COWS.

What time should participants arrive before their race?

Participants are encouraged to arrive 30 to 45 minutes before their scheduled race start time
to allow time for parking, check-in, and getting to the start area.

Are dogs allowed on the race course?

Yes, dogs are permitted on the 5K and 10K race courses. However, dogs are not permitted during the Kids Run, as the race
takes place within Shining Waters Family Fun Park.

Can I walk the race?

Yes, participants are welcome to walk or run both the 5K and 10K races.

Where will race results be posted?

Race results will be shared on PEI Road Runners. Please find the link here.

Where is the parking for the Kids Run?

Parking for the Kids Run will be available in the main parking lot at Shining Waters Family
Fun Park (122 Avonlea Blvd, Cavendish, PE C0A 1N0).

Can I run with my child at the Kids Run?

Parents and guardians are welcome to run alongside their child during the Kids Run if assistance is needed.

What age group is the Kids Run for and what time do they start?

The Kids Run features three divisions:
• U13 begins at 8:30 a.m.
• U9 begins at 8:45 a.m.
• U5 begins at 9:00 a.m.

Races will take place rain or shine, so participants are encouraged to dress accordingly.

AWARDS & PRIZES:

Medals will be awarded to the top finishers, along with overall male and female winners.
All participants will also receive a commemorative medal and T-shirt!

SAFETY MEASURES:

Your safety is our priority. The course will be well-marked with volunteers, signage, and aid stations to support
you throughout the race. Medical staff will also be available, and we’ll have hydration stations to keep
you fueled and hydrated along the way.
